Windows Storage Cleaning

 Windows Storage Cleaning


Run Commands:


Press "Windows" + "R" to open "Run" command terminal. Then type the following command one by one.

  • Command 01: temp
        After pressing "Enter", delete all the files present in it. "Skip" the files which are unable to delete. Make sure to check the "Do this for all currents items".


  • Command 02: %temp% 
        After pressing "Enter", delete all the files present in it. "Skip" the files which are unable to delete. Make sure to check the "Do this for all currents items".

  • Command 03: prefetch
        After pressing "Enter", delete all the files present in it. "Skip" the files which are unable to delete. Make sure to check the "Do this for all currents items".

  • Command 04: %AppData%
        If you uninstalled any app or not using any app, delete its app's folder.

  • Command 05:  %temp%
        Press Enter. The at top, click on AppData > LocalIf you uninstalled any app or not using any app, delete its app's folder.





Command Prompt:

Open "Start" menu, search for "cmd" and click "Run as administrator".


  • Command 01: powercfg -h off
        This command deletes all the hibernations files. It may contain 5 to 6GB of files.



Deleting Large Files from C Drive:

Open "This PC", click on C: drive. In search box (present at top-left side), type these commands:

  • Command 01: Size:gigantic
        This shows you all the large size files. Delete the unwanted files.
  • Command 02: Size:huge
        This shows you all the large size files. Delete the unwanted files.


  • Open "This PC", click on C: drive. If you see any folder named "Windows Old", delete it.
  • Open "This PC", click on C: drive > Windows > SoftwareDistribution. Delete all files present in it.

Uninstalling Apps:

Open Settings (Ctrl + I) > Apps > Installed apps. On left side, you will see "Filter by:" option with dropdown menu. Select "Local Disk (C:)". Uninstall the apps you don't need.



Disk Cleanup:

Open "Start" menu and search for "Disk Cleanup". Select "C:" drive. Check mark all the files and click "OK". Again open "Start" menu and search for "Disk Cleanup". Select "C:" drive. Now click "Clean up system files" and press "OK". Then check mark all and press "OK".
